How to set up a LINE OA step by step, with the traps

Apply on the web with a LINE Business ID or in the LINE Official Account app, fill the required fields and submit. LINE's help page says review normally takes about 10 business days. Then set your profile, greeting message and hours.

LINE's help page says the review process normally takes about 10 business days, may take longer, and that LINE gives no status updates while it is pending. It also says an account created in the app is unverified, and that review applications are currently accepted only for Japan, Taiwan and Thailand. The verified badge page separately says its result arrives within 7 business days. Plan for the longer figure.

Traps to avoid before you submit

  • Use the real business name. For the verified badge, LINE requires the name to match the business and contain no emoji.
  • Do not use a nickname for the applicant. The badge page requires a person's name for the applicant, not a company name.
  • Use an email you will keep. Staff leave, and the account is tied to logins.
  • Decide the name before applying. We found no official page that says whether the name can be changed later.
  • Have your documents handy if you plan the badge: business registration or licence, address, phone, email.

Optional: a Premium ID

A Premium ID is your own @name. LINE for Business lists it at 444 baht a year before VAT when bought on Android or the web, and 459 baht on iOS. On iOS it is one Premium ID per Apple ID, it cannot be changed within 1 year, and it renews automatically after 1 year.

Worked example: what setup costs on day one

  • Account: 0 baht on the Free plan.
  • Premium ID bought on the web: 444 baht before VAT. With 7% VAT: 444 x 1.07 = 475.08 baht a year.
  • Premium ID bought on iOS: 459 baht before VAT, or 459 x 1.07 = 491.13 baht.
  • The web route saves 491.13 - 475.08 = 16.05 baht, and avoids the Apple ID lock.
  • Total to start with an own name: 475.08 baht for the year. Skip it and start at 0.

First settings, in this order

  1. Profile

    Name, photo, opening hours, address, phone, one line about what you sell.

  2. Greeting message

    Up to 5 message balloons. Two is better. Say who you are and what to ask.

  3. Response settings

    Choose how the account answers inside and outside your hours.

  4. One keyword reply

    Start with opening hours. See the auto reply guide.

  5. Add staff

    Give each person their own login, and remove anyone who leaves.

A short checklist before you press submit

  • Business name typed exactly as it appears on your licence or sign.
  • One email that more than one person can read.
  • Opening hours, address, phone and a clear photo ready to upload.
  • A decision about the Premium ID: now, later or never.

Can I change the account name later?

We found no official page that says. Choose the name carefully before you apply.

Is the Premium ID worth it?

It is optional. A custom @name is easier to say and print. It costs 444 baht a year before VAT on Android or web.

Can I create the account in the app?

Yes, but LINE says an account created in the app is unverified, so you apply for verification separately.
