A simple LINE customer list: tags, notes, reward cards and when to add a CRM

Updated

Start with chat tags and notes, which are part of LINE OA. Add MyCustomer, LINE's CRM, at 369 baht a month before VAT on Free or Basic, or move to Pro where it is included, once five tags no longer tell you who to message.

Written for: You know your regulars by name but not by data, your customer list is your memory, and you wonder whether you need a CRM yet.

Five tags to start with

  1. New

Added you, has not bought. Remove it after the first order.

  2. Asked about price

Wants a follow up with an offer. This is your warmest group.

  3. Booked

Has an appointment or order. Use it to remind, not to promote.

  4. Regular

Has bought three times or more. Send them early news.

  5. Do not message

Asked you to stop. Respect it and keep them out of every broadcast.

When to add a CRM

LINE for Business lists MyCustomer, its CRM tool, at 369 baht a month before VAT on Free and Basic, and included at no extra cost on Pro. Add it when tags and notes stop being enough: several staff need the same view, you want to see a customer's history in one place, or you segment a lot.

Worked example: Basic plus MyCustomer, or Pro?

Two shops that both want MyCustomer

  • Shop A sends 12,000 messages a month. Basic + MyCustomer: 1,280 + 369 = 1,649 baht before VAT, 1,764.43 baht with 7% VAT.
  • Pro for Shop A: 1,780 baht before VAT, 1,904.60 baht with VAT, MyCustomer included. Basic + MyCustomer is 131 baht cheaper before VAT, so Shop A stays on Basic.
  • Shop B sends 20,000 messages. Basic: 1,280 + (5,000 x 0.10) = 1,780, plus MyCustomer 369 = 2,149 baht before VAT.
  • Pro for Shop B: 1,780 baht, MyCustomer included. Pro is 369 baht cheaper before VAT, 394.83 baht with VAT.
  • Break even: Basic + MyCustomer equals Pro when the extra messages cost 131 baht, which is 1,310 messages over 15,000, so at 16,310 messages. Below that, Basic + MyCustomer is cheaper. Above it, Pro is.

What to do this week

  • Create the five tags in Manager and apply them to your 20 most recent chats. It takes about half an hour.
  • Write one rule for notes: only what helps you serve the customer, never health, ID or payment details.
  • Pick the one offer you would send to your Regular tag, and write it in three lines.
  • Once a month, count how many chats you could not place in a tag. If it is more than a third, a CRM is worth a look.

A customer list is only as good as the habit of updating it. Five tags used every day beat fifty tags nobody touches.

Questions people ask

Do I need a CRM for fewer than 500 friends?

Usually not. Tags and notes are enough. Add MyCustomer when several people need the same customer view.

Is MyCustomer free on Pro?

LINE for Business lists MyCustomer as included at no additional cost on Pro. On Free and Basic it is 369 baht a month before VAT.

Can I target a message to a tag?

LINE's features page says chat tags can also target messages. Targeting needs a target reach of at least 100 people.

How many reward cards or tags can I have?

We could not confirm limits from an official page. Check Manager.

What to do next
